Tired? Maybe It's Time for an Emotional Cleansing

Sometimes we’re just tired. We’re tired of life. We’re tired of the same old daily grind. We’re tired of falling back into the same old patterns of behavior that rekindle our misery. And we’re tired of feeling frustrated, marginalized and hopeless.

We find ourselves emotionally crawling on our knees, wondering why life isn’t getting better. When we get into this sort of funk, we know it’s time for an emotional cleansing. We’ve been holding-in all of our feelings, we’ve been feeding off their toxicity and we are on the brink of spiritual death.

At times like this we need to let it all out. There’s no point in trying to control it or hold it in any longer. So we scream, beat our hands against the floor and feel the full rush of our frigging bottled-up pain. As it explodes out of our system, we curse our Higher Power and divorce ourselves from it. We need a fresh start. We need to divorce ourselves from everything and every pattern of behavior we’ve relied upon—and we need to do it completely.

We kick and scream and curse until we’re completely drained of all of our inner-toxins. Eventually, we grow limp. All of the pain is released finally. We feel sort of barren inside, but greatly relieved. The poison is finally out of our system and we’re exhausted with sadness, which is a good thing. Sadness is the healing feeling and we are starting the healing process. And it’s just that—a process.

All of recovery from any sort of addictive behavior is a process. It begins the first day we decide we want our lives back from those we’ve given our power away to since birth. Recovery is a lifetime process. It never ends. There is no final destination; no finish line, aside from death.

Emotional cleansing isn’t a one-shot deal. It’s also a process. We may need to do it over and over. We may have to run through several Higher Powers before we are able to build a solid relationship with the True one who is really there for us. We’ll recognize that Higher Power once we are there for ourselves.

If your system is feeling toxic, get the poison out now. Eventually, your soul will regain some shine.
